A little more detail: We had a disk failure on one of our database servers, which caused some intermittent “Over Capacity” messages for users this afternoon. We put the site into maintenance mode and switched the failing database over to a live backup. Once everything was verified, we brought the site back up. Total downtime was around 10 minutes.

2:22pm CDT: Raven is temporarily down while we perform some quick emergency maintenance. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ranking results and the Raven API will be unavailable tonight (Friday May 13) beginning at 8pm CDT until 8am CDT Saturday May 14. The rest of the system will operate normally.

8:25pm - Maintenance window has begun.
12:30am - Maintenance is going according to schedule. Will update in the morning.
6:20am - Progress is slower than expected. Rankings results will continue to be unavailable beyond the estimated window.
9:15am - Ranking results will be unavailable for most of the day today. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we take steps towards improving system performance.
10:00am - Website directory and backlink explorer have also been temporarily disabled.

Quick Upgrade

Unexpected downtime

Raven has been unavailable for the past 15 minutes. We are in the process of failing over to a backup database server.

Update: After determining that our main database server had failed, we switched to a hot backup which we verified was 100% complete. We’ve taken the site out of maintenance mode, everything should be back to normal. Sorry for the unexpected downtime, which lasted about 19 minutes.

Update - 1:05 AM EST Service has been restored.

At 12:26 AM EST (Wed Nov 24, 2010), Raven became unavailable. Users were temporarily and incorrectly redirected to the login page.

We are working to restore a service, and expect to have everything back up and running shortly.

DNS issues

Update: The outage appears to be over, and DNS is resolving again. We will continue to monitor the situation.

Our DNS provider is currently having issues, causing raven-seo-tools.com to be unavailable for most users. Custom subdomains and domains should still be working.

Original Post - 9:22AM (EDT)

One of our network providers is experiencing increased latency, resulting in Raven being temporarily unavailable for short periods of time overnight and into this morning.

During these outages, Raven was either unresponsive or redirected users to the login screen. White-labeled logos were also unavailable during this time.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Update 1 - 2:30PM (EDT)

Our network providers continue to fix the issues causing the outages. If you experience not being able to login, that’s most likely due to the outage problem. We’re very sorry for this inconvenience, and we hope they’ll have the network issues fixed soon. Also, this outage does not affect any data, only our ability to provide the service.

Update 2 - 7:15PM (EDT)

Raven has been up and running smoothly for most of the day, but in order to deal with the problems faced earlier today, we are planning a system-wide maintenance window tonight at 9:30PM (EDT). The down time should last less than an hour.

Update: Things are back to normal

Some of our servers were experiencing database connection problems. We’re patching individual servers to bypass the problem, which is with one of our DNS providers. If you are still experiencing problems with your account please email support@raventools.com.

Update June 27th, 11:14AM CST - Social Mention is back online - all systems are now operational. Thank you to everyone for your patience.

Update 12:27AM CST - Ranking and reporting are back online. Everything is up and running with the exception of Social Mention, which should be back by tomorrow (Sunday). We apologize for taking longer than estimated for completing this maintenance.

Update 8:36PM CST - We have put the system back into maintenance mode in order to finish bringing the ranking data back online.

Update 7:58PM CST - The system has been back up and running, but ranking and reporting will remain temporarily unavailable. Thank you for your patience.

Unscheduled Maintenance

Update 2: Everything is up and running again, and there was no data loss. The service was unavailable for less than two hours. The downtime was caused by connectivity issues with our hosting provider, and had nothing to do with our software platform.

Update 1: The network we use experienced some connectivity outages. They are now bringing several of our servers back online. It will take us some time to get our system checked and fully up and running.

We’re having some issues with some of our servers, and needed to go into maintenance mode to deal with the problem. Check back here for updates on our progress as we try to get everything back online. We’re very sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing you.

Database Upgrade

We just did a quick hardware upgrade to the database server, so you may have noticed a 1 or 2 minute outage on your account. The switch was smooth and easy, and the new server is noticeably faster.

Old Reports Emailed
